星期天早上，紅家的冰箱上貼著三張便條：
米拉寫「午餐吃烤雞」，阿洛寫「請不要把面罩放進洗衣機」，丹提只寫「記得充電」。
Sunday morning, three sticky notes were on the Red household’s fridge:
Mira wrote, “Roast chicken for lunch.”
Arlo wrote, “Please don’t put the mask in the washing machine.”
Dante simply wrote, “Remember to charge.”
飯還沒熱完，社區群組就傳來求救：海邊有一隻充氣天鵝被風吹走，坐在上面的孩子正往外海漂。米拉抬頭看鐘，說先救人再吃雞。阿洛已經把面罩從餐巾架上取下，結果戴反了，眼孔對著耳朵。丹提用叉子幫他轉正，補一句別緊張，叔叔第一次出勤也是穿著拖鞋。
Before the food had even warmed through, a call for help popped up in the neighborhood chat: a blow-up swan at the beach had been blown out to sea, a child still on it. Mira glanced at the clock and said, “Rescue first, chicken later.” Arlo had already taken his mask off the napkin stand, but he put it on backward so the eye holes faced his ears. Dante flipped it the right way with a fork and added, “Don’t sweat it—my first call-out I was in slippers.”
三人衝到屋頂，米拉在手機上畫出風向和路線，丹提負責繫好安全繩，阿洛跳上滑索，像送外賣那樣準時準點。等他把孩子抱回來，充氣天鵝還韌性十足，丹提說別浪費，綁在屋頂當風向袋也好。孩子的媽媽緊張到語無倫次，米拉把面罩往上推一點，露出微笑，說晚餐要不要一起來我們家，烤雞足夠。
They rushed to the roof. Mira mapped wind and route on her phone, Dante secured the safety line, and Arlo jumped onto the zip line—right on time, like a takeout run. When he brought the child back, the inflatable swan was still in good shape; Dante said not to waste it and tied it to the roof as a windsock. The child’s mother was too rattled to speak. Mira pushed her mask up a little to show a smile and said, “Come have dinner with us—there’s plenty of roast chicken.”
回到家時烤箱剛好叮一聲。阿洛在餐桌下練習把面罩一秒戴好，丹提拿著烤雞刷醬，當成面罩拋光的動作做示範。米拉把今天的路線圖貼到冰箱旁，標註「成功」。她說英雄工作其實和家務差不多，記得誰負責什麼，按次序做，就會很有效率。阿洛點頭，嘴裡塞滿馬鈴薯泥，只露出一個紅色的笑。窗外海風正好，屋頂上那隻白色天鵝慢慢轉向，像在向這一家人敬禮。
Back home, the oven dinged. Under the table, Arlo practiced putting his mask on in one second. Dante basted the chicken, demonstrating as if he were polishing a mask. Mira pinned the day’s route map beside the fridge and marked it “Complete.” She said hero work is a lot like housework: remember who does what, follow the order, and everything runs efficiently. Arlo nodded, mouth full of mashed potatoes, revealing a small red grin. Outside, the sea breeze was just right; the white swan on the roof slowly turned, as if saluting the family.
